Got up about 9.30. A nice sunny day but wind still cold. Ron, Dot and Jane came for dinner. Frank and Dora came in the afternoon. Took Jane for a little walk.

Day off today. Got up at 9.30. Still very cold. Strong NE wind. Didn’t do any gardening. Went to P in the afternoon. Did mowing and pruning. Let Norman have a go at mowing.

Still bitterly cold again today. Car washing. H.A. making 70 to date. Did all the Ts. More frost this morning. When will it come warmer, I wonder.

A frost last night and very cold all day but with some sunshine. Cleaned three cars. B.T.Mc. Did all the Ts. Got a load of oil. Got an old bike for spare parts.

Still very cold but some sunshine. No 1 on red incin nozzle too tight. Cleaned both jets. Cleared out silage lab. Did all the Ts. A lot of stuff to burn. Alf Watts here today on a visit.

Back to work today again. Still very cold and dull but dry. Washed S car and cut some wood for inciner. Young David started work here today. Did all the Ts.

Easter Monday

Still very cold and dull. Mr Simpson came to see me in the morning. Dot, Ron, Jane and Aunty Clara* came for their dinner. Poor Tom Sumner died suddenly.

(*My Dad’s aunty. Not the best of our relations.)

Still a very cold East wind. Coldest Easter for 80 years. Did a bit of digging. Cyril came to see me at night. Went for a drink. Saw old Mick.

On. Wind still cold from the East. Sharpened my mowing machine and did the mowing. Boat race on. Went to P in the afternoon. Did the mowing and then some pruning.

Good Friday

A cold East wind still. Got up about 9.30am. Put five rows of early spuds in. Ron brought little Jane to see us. No one else came during the day. Had a nice quiet day.
