Still mild. Got up 9.30. Hung the door on porch. A bit too narrow. Dot and Ron came for tea. Saw old Jim in the Wheat at night. He’d been to see Bill.

A nice mild day. No fog. Day off but started windows again. Finished house first floor. Went to P in the p.m. Planted bulbs in wood and pollys in bed.

A cold wet day. Rain the whole time. John took Mr Muir’s boxes. Car washing again. H.B.A. making 255 to date. A.P. brought 2 bags of coke to put me on.

A slight frost this morning with fog. Do at Pudd today. Old Skip passed on. Pile up of cars at Damhead corner. Raking leaves up drive. Too wet to burn.

Sharp frost first thing but sunshine later. Rather cold. Raking leaves down the drive again. Wet now. Saw Mr Muir. Brushed out his boxes . Did razors.

A nasty cold raw day again. Some snow in the night. Cleared leaves from round the bins. Cleared the silage lab out. Cleaned both the jest and cleaned the copper.

Heavy frost in the night. Cold wind still blowing, not so strong as yesterday. Car washing again. Cold job this weather. S.Mc.D. making 252 to date.

Got up 10 a.m. Very cold again. Frost in the night. Started to put door on porch. Too cold. Had to knock off. Ron and Dot came on the 5.30 bus. Went to pub.

Sat on today. Got done about ten. Very cold north wind. Went to P* in afternoon. Got rained off at 2pm. Very cold strong north wind with hail and snow. Never went to Wheat.

(After discussion with my mum, who says that Granddad never went to the pub in the afternoon, she concludes that he had an extra gardening job which he went to on some Saturday afternoons. She can’t remember if P is a person or a place, but it does seem to make sense with the entries. So apologies, Granddad, for sometimes suggesting you went to the pub twice in one day.)
