Another cold day with freezing conditions. No 1 boiler on red first thing. Carbon formed. Washing Bond’s car. Pig and a calf to burn. Did some painting.

Still very cold but not quite as bad as yesterday. Went to Dot’s on two bus. All going well. Baby is beautiful. And Dot looks very well.

Day on again today. Got done at 10. No 2 boiler on red. Very severe frost again last night. Pipe in back kitchen frozen. Not thawed out until 3 p.m.

Sharp frost again last night. Car washing. H.A.K. making 12 to date. Cleaned both the jets. Started snowing again at noon time. Fairly heavy.

Still cold. Thawing a bit in the day time. Cleared the silage bins. Got some wood in for incin. 1 ton of coke came. Did some painting in the met A.B.

A heavy fall of snow during the night and part of the day. One ton of coke came. Took the pram for Dot. A big sow in. Also a calf. Cleared paths.

Thaw still going on but slowly. Slight drizzle at times. Shovelling ice off the paths. Swilled round the bins. Did both the jets. Window cleaning at night.

The thaw goes on, thank goodness. Everywhere wet under-foot. Car cleaning today again. S.B.Mc.D.K.A. making 9 to date. Going to clean a few windows tonight.

Ron stayed the night again last night. We went to see Dot in the afternoon. She looks fine. Not able to see the baby. Got home on the 4.30.

Day off today. Still thawing. Dot gave birth to a little girl last night. God bless them both and keep them safe. Ron stayed the night. We had a drink together to celebrate.

(My dad always had trouble keeping up with Granddad on trips to the pub.)
