Got up 10 a.m. Very cold again. Frost in the night. Started to put door on porch. Too cold. Had to knock off. Ron and Dot came on the 5.30 bus. Went to pub.

Sat on today. Got done about ten. Very cold north wind. Went to P* in afternoon. Got rained off at 2pm. Very cold strong north wind with hail and snow. Never went to Wheat.
(After discussion with my mum, who says that Granddad never went to the pub in the afternoon, she concludes that he had an extra gardening job which he went to on some Saturday afternoons. She can’t remember if P is a person or a place, but it does seem to make sense with the entries. So apologies, Granddad, for sometimes suggesting you went to the pub twice in one day.)

A very cold wind today. Finished cutting the plants on big borders. Burnt them all. Started to cart the stakes away. Cleaned out the silage lab. Loaded rubbish on trailer.

Cold morning but some sunshine. Went for a load of firewood to Tom’s and cut it up. Cleaned both jets. Raking and burning leaves up the drive.

Got up at 9.30 a.m. very cold wind blowing. Made a place for my dahlias. Cut up some fire wood. Dot and Ron came as usual. Nothing to report.

Day off today. Got up about half nine. Planted my wall flowers. Went to P in the p.m. Finished digging borders. Planted wall flowers. 15 doz 30/-. Dug up the dahlias.
