Got up about 9 a.m. Frank and Dora went about 11 a.m. Did a bit of gardening. Dot, Ron and Jane gone on holiday to Wales for a week. Went to the pub at night. Old Jim there.

Left today for home again this a.m. Went for a beautiful run through the Lake District. Wonderful scenery. Got home about 6 p.m. Dot, Ron and Jane came. Frank and Dora stayed the night.

Left Loch Lomond about 9.30, heading for the Lakes. Saw Gretna Green and Carlisle. Had our tea at Penrith and went on to Pooley Bridge by Ullswater where we stayed the night.

Left Edinburgh at about 9.30. Went to the Forth Bridge and on to see the Trossachs. A wonderful sight. Went on to Loch Lomond. A wonderful place. Got digs for the night there.

Stayed the day in Edinburgh. Went through the castle, St Giles’ Church. Saw Holyrood House. Went down Princes’ Street. It is a wonderful city. Well worth seeing.

Set off again for Edinburgh. Went through some lovely country and arrived there about 4 p.m. Found some digs in a very nice spot and the rooms very good.

Set out next morning for Hartlepool. Got there about 11 a.m. Met Nell’s Uncle and Aunt. Saw North Sea for the first time. Left about 1 p.m. for Durham. Went through Cath. Stayed Anchor Inn. 11/- per B and B.

Set off on hols at about 8.45. Weather not too bad. Went over new Runcorn Bridge making for Yorkshire. Found some digs in Stockton on Tees. 12/6- bed and breakfast. Nice old lady.

A nice sort of a day. Sunshine, one or two light showers. Car washing again. H.A. making 129 to date. Starting hols tonight. Loaded rubbish on the trailer.

Day of the council trip today. Not a bad day for it. A fair amount of sunshine and some showers. It was a lovely run through the Welsh countryside. Home 1 a.m.
